Riverbank sits on an escarpment overlooking the Cardrona River. It has historic significance and was originally an industrial shed and was then converted into a dance studio. The distinctive curved roof provided a rare opportunity to transform the interior space for its new function as a beauty salon with accommodation. A semi-circular waiting area provides a central space for the treatment rooms to pivot off while accentuating the height and curve of the building. The addition of new skylights flood the treatment rooms with natural light while existing high level windows now capture the sun rising from the loft bedroom suite. It has been a pleasure transforming this unique building shell into a spectacular retreat on the edge of Wanaka.
